(*No little brothers were harmed in the making of this montage.)

Aha!  Our first entry!  We present to you our Surreal Montages; completing our Surreal Montage project in Digital Photography necessitated that we learn the following new Photoshop techniques:

  • using the magnetic lasso tool
  • converting images to smart objects
  • applying transformations to images
  • copying and reflecting images

In order to get ourselves thinking like Surrealists, we studied the paintings of

The Persistence of Memory

Salvador Dali (The Persistence of Memory)

and Max Ernst

and we compared these Surrealist paintings to contemporary collage pictures by Javier Pinon

and other contemporary Photoshop images

Students then used their new Photoshop techniques to create Surreal-style montages of their own after taking digital photographs of

  • people
  • nature/buildings
  • animals/insects

and collaging them together.
