Trompe l’oeil

Posted: October 25, 2010 in Art III & IV, Trompe l'oeil

I had my advanced art students study the trompe l’oeil style for the first long-term challenge project.  They researched both art historical and contemporary examples of trompe l’oeil drawings, paintings and murals, including the work of Andrea Mantegna, Jacopo de’ Barbari, and artists in the style of contemporary street painter Kurt Wenner.

My advanced art students chose their own objects for their trompe l’oeil still lifes, photographed their own compositions from a variety of angles and finally chose the media they felt would best allow them to achieve the true trompe l’oeil effect.
