Grace Museum Field Trip

Posted: March 20, 2012 in Field Trips

Today the Art Club + any students having work displayed in The Grace Museum of Abilene’s Youth Art Month show took a trip to Abilene to see their work and the work of the Region 14 area.  We also toured a local university’s art department and we all had fun being art nerds for a day.

Youth Art Month

Posted: February 20, 2012 in Field Trips, Hall of Fame

It’s almost Youth Art Month at the Grace Museum in Abilene again, which means the best work from local art programs will be pouring in to be in a special event that will showcase the work of young artists.

Colorado High School will be represented by eleven worthy students as their works have been submitted for the show.  Congratulations Alesia, Alexis, Alexa, Amanda, Ricky, Israel, Joseph, Marisela, NIkki, Chloe, and Payton!

The Youth Art Month exhibit will open March 1st – there will be a special gallery event opening that evening, and the work will hang on display for the entire month of March.  Visit The Grace Museum’s website here.

Yesterday Miss Ensenia and I took the students whose art is hanging in The Grace Museum’s Youth Art Month show to the museum to have a chance to look at their art while still on display.  We also viewed a show of Mary McCleary‘s work, which was hanging at the time.  Ms. McCleary was named Texas Artist of the Year 2011, so it was pretty neat to see some impressive work of a recognized contemporary artist.  After we visited the museum we stopped by the ACU campus to tour the art department there.  Visit their blog at http://blogs.acu.edu/artanddesign/
